Thoughts on ” DEMONS IN THE WILD”

My friend and fellow lyricist, Mustafa Abdul Basit called me up and told me that I should make a remix  of  Jay Z’s No church in the wild and when I heard the original  lyrics, quite honestly I felt bothered by the chorus
The initial lyrics for the chorus ware as follows:


Human beings in a mob
“What’s a mob to a king?
What’s a king to a God?
What’s a God to a non-believer
Who don’t believe in anything?
Will he make it out alive?
Alright, alright
No church in the wild”

As time moves forward, I find that more warnings from Allah in the past become more relevant. Today, people devalue the concept of God so much and I find it disrespectful . But instead of preaching to the choir, I can write with more ferocity and in defense of moral concepts. This was the assignment of the griots during the time of the Prophet, and they are who I aspire to be like.  My chorus lyrics are as follows

“We in the belly of the beast
Whats  a beast to a man
What’s a man to Iblees
What’s Iblees to a believer
Who believes in
the unseen
To make it out alive, we vow to fight
Demons in the wild”
